Scott ReynoldsA magical donkey pelt falls into the hands of a suicidal young man which enables him to receive his hearts desires on demandwith the caveat that his life span shall diminish with proportion to the intensity and volume of his wishes. There were 13 performances at American Theatre of Actors, Beckmann Stage, from August 8 - 19, 2000. This was a Pick of the Week at New York Theatre Experience, where Martin Denton described the production as a special kind of theatreentirely uncommercial and entirely uncompromising. The Review... Doug DeVita of the Off-Off-Broadway Review loved the production, too, saying that it captured the acute psychological insight and keen sense of irony that are the very soul of Balzacs genius.
